I am always on the lookout for some accurate .22 ammo. It has been scarce lately, but I did find some here and there.

Our friends at AIM had a sale last week and had some .22 target ammo for sale at reasonable prices.

Here it is:

It is some GEMTEC Subsonic .22 LR, 42 grain LRN ammo for $47.50 a brick (500 rounds).

The other is some Lapua/SK .22 LR Standard Plus for $57.90 a brick.

I got one brick of each and was interested in how they would compare to my Wolf Match Target ammo, which is the most accurate ammo I have ever seen in a .22.

Both brands looked very nice and I noticed something about the base markings on the Lapua as compared to the Wolf.

They are the same ammo. I had met a Lapua Rep at the Shot Show that told me that they are the same, just different boxes.

Oh well, time for some shooting. I will shoot both of the brands out of my Ruger 10/22 and then out of my Savage.

Here are the results of 5, five-shot groups at 50 yards. The Federal Classic is good ammo, but I wanted to see how these brands compare to "standard" ammo like the Federal.

Bottom line………They are both as good as the Wolf Match Target.

I decided to play around with the targets we are using in this thread: http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_16_17/4006_Shoot_the_Terrorist_Gun_Game.html

At 50 yards, it is very challenging to "cut the black" on all 5 targets with only one shot each.

Here is the target for the Lapua SK.

And here is the target for the GEMTECH.

Both of those were "first try" for me today. Can't do much better than that.

If you need some very accurate .22 ammo, check out the fine folks at AIM. It probably won't last long.

And then don't neck beard it, but go shoot it. Why?

Because shooting stuff is fun.
