I have a friend that I met through The Box O' Truthwho goes by the name Ubboto.
He is a Police Officer in Bulgaria and is a fine fellow.
He sent me some pictures of him and his friends shooting pistols and I was interested in his carry gun.
He told me it was a CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow. I wanted one.
I finally found one and ordered it. It arrived today and was everything I expected.
Here it is.
It is a 9mm semi-auto and comes with three 18 round magazines.
It is double or single action, without a de-cocker.
It has a 1911 style safety. It also had full-length slide rails and looked like it would be very accurate.
Only one way to find out.
We went to the gun range to try it out.
Here I am shooting at about 8 to 10 yards.
And here's the first 12 shots from the pistol.
I'm gonna like this one.
I gave Tman a turn with the pistol.
He shot the same target, as we shoot to the same point of aim.
Notice the piece of brass over his hat visor.
Extraction and ejection was "positive."
Here's his 12 added to mine.
Very nice group.
The pistol has a very nice set of sights, with a grooved rear sight and a high-visibility red front sight.
I had Tman hold so I could try to line them up for you guys.
Here's what they look like from the shooter's position.
The safety is ambidextrous.
And has a bright red insert visible when "Off."
We tried some double taps and were amazed at how well the pistol shot.
Tman has had a few CZ pistols in the past, but was not impressed with the triggers.
He is a good gunsmith, but even he could not do much to improve the triggers.
He was very surprised at how good the trigger is on this model
It is excellent.
Take down is simple and straightforward.
You start by assuring that the magazine is out and the chamber is empty.
Hammer is set to half-cock.
You then put your left thumb through the trigger guard and grip the slide with your fingers.
Then you align the two small marks on the slide.
You then use the butt of a magazine to push the take-down pin through the pistol.
And then pull it out.
Then pull the slide forward off the frame.

Then remove the mainspring.
And remove the barrel.
Clean it, lube it, and put it back together in reverse order.
This is a very fine pistol, with target accuracy.
