I recently evaluated a new muzzle brake made by Kahntrol Brakes and was very impressed.
I decided to get one for my Accuracy International AE in 7.62 X 51 NATO.
Here it is installed and ready to shoot at the range this morning.
Now there seems to be some folks that say, "Why are you scared of the recoil of the .308?"
Well, I'm not "scared" of the recoil, but the recoil can be slightly distracting when trying to do my best accurate shooting.
And this brake removes ALL of the recoil and enables me to concentrate on holding the crosshairs right on the aiming point.
I shot this target as per the Arfcom One MOA All Day Long Challenge Contest.
Here it is, with 5, five-shot groups on one sheet of paper.
As you can see, I used some Sierra 2200M, moly bullets and shot an average of .561 MOA.
Not bad at all.
I decided to try some un-coated Sierra 2200 bullets and shot this target at a steady rate, loading the 5-shot magazine, shooting those five shots, and then loading the next five.
I shot all 25 rounds without letting the rifle cool down. Here's the target.
I averaged .593 MOA.
This brake makes shooting the rifle a real pleasure and seems to make it easier to shoot accurately.
As a side note, I also shot my .223 Savage bolt gun. I found the last 5 rounds of .223 ammo that my old buddy Tman had loaded up for me.
Here they are.
I thought it was nice that they went into a group all touching. I sure miss my old friend.
