Default It feels like deer season

Tomorrow is opening morning of rifle season in MO.
They are calling for 30's with a breeze and possibly some flurries.

Good luck & safe hunting to all my fellow Missourans who are hitting the woods this weekend.

Think about this; Christopher Reeve had a better case against horses than the Bradys do against guns. After all a horse has intelligence, free will, & mobility.
Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it, & you can bet they will be whining "Why didn't somone warn us?"

Provided it's legal in your area, does anybody still deer hunt with a smooth bore shotgun barrel and rifled slug?

That which doesn't kill me...probably won't kill the other guy attacking me.

Instead of banning the guns and the shiny things, just let the stupid people die. The world will be a better place because of it.

Used to when I lived in IL. You got a Question Redd, As fas as know it is a legal method almost everywhere.

I am not sure who asked about butchering, but..

I do my own butchering, I know how my deer was cared for after the shot. I do not believe that you get your deer back when you take it to a butcher shop. I do know the batch grind and you get the right number of pounds back but it is mixed with other peoples deer.

I will how ever take 1-2 hind quarters and have then cured and smoked just like ham. It is delicious. and I do get my deer back that way.

Another thing I like doing it myself is I do not add fat of any kind to my ground venison, it is a lean very healthy meat I want to keep it that way besides I can add bacon grease to the pan before frying it if i feel it needs it.

Congrat's Dan, how much if any will be going to jerky?

I don't generally do jerky.
I do how ever make some salami and we all like it better than we do jerky.
We treat the deer like we do cows we view them as food more than a novelty if that makes sense. I make about 10 pounds of salami per deer that is our treat.

Makes perfect sense to me Dan. For some reason my family never got into making venison salami, but we normally work up a batch or two of jerky. Maybe we should look at switching over the salami should be easier to chew.
