With everything I wanted to paint blasted I returned home and cleaned all of the blasted parts with MEK to remove any oil or dirt. Then it was off to pick up my wife from work. Once back home I began painting with DURACOAT acu deep grey green paint. I only mixed up the minuim amount they had list in the destuctions and it was more than what I needed. I used a cheap habour freight airbrush kit to spray it and it came out looking great. I did spray lots of thin coats like OP did in BOT #81, but I think the duracoat just makes us look like good painters. Mainly because of the fact that OP used an HPLV spray gun and I used a cheap POS airbrush. Duracoat is good stuff In my opion. Made me look like I knew what I was doing.
MEK also made for a nice clean up of the airbrush and the mixing cups used.

After letting the paint set for about a week (mainly due to having to work). It was time for the hard part putting it all back together. Do pay attenion to how it was put together when you take it apart. But for those who don't the bolt hold open lever spring has a long and short side and the loop in it has the trigger pin going though it, and the short side goes to the back. You can retain the hammer and trigger pins with either a stock sherpard's crook spring or a retainer plate . I wish I had gottin the retainer plate it's only anout 10 to 15$ from tapco and much easier to install. This is the pic of the FCG fully installed after a few hours of trail and error and springs fliing about triing to get it together.

Lastly install the new stock, pistol grip and reassemble the rest of the action.

parts list

TAPCO parts

T6 m4 style stock. Looks a little funny to me but needed adjustablity so both me and my wife can use.

Saw pistol grip Both of these count as one part.

TROMIX parts

s12 Shark muzzle brake. not a 922r part but dang it looks good at the end of the barrel.

Gas piston. extra 922r part

Fire Control Group. this is a modifed tapco fcg for use with the saiga and it's bolt hold open lever. All they did was to shorten the right side boss on the hammer where the pin goes though. This counts as three 922r parts. trigger, hammer and disconnector.

Trigger guard. I just thought theirs look better.

Paint

luaer duracoat ACU deep grey green

with a AGP 10 round mag. Three more 922r parts floor plate, follower and mag body.

Thats all the pics til the wife get the ones she took off her camera and onto the computer. I don't dare touch her camera I sleep to soundly

Nice job Motoman, I wasn't sure if I should post or wait untill you put up the other pics. What did you do with the old non US parts?

Think about this; Christopher Reeve had a better case against horses than the Bradys do against guns. After all a horse has intelligence, free will, & mobility.

Thank you, no need to wait not sure when my wife will find time to move the pics from her camera.

For now I'm going to save them. It seems to me with one of the old Non US parts I could possibly go class 3 with a little bit of tinkering. Which is why I added the extra US parts. Not sure if I can do it legally, but the sound of a full auto shotgun sounds kind of fun to me.

I bet if we all concentrated real hard on the image of a full auto Saiga 12 with high cap mags we could have half the Senate spending thier morning in the can.
Looking forward to the rest of your pics Motoman, whenever the better half is able.

Speaking of high cap mags I really think I should dust the credit card and order me a 20 round drum or two. I'm sure that image would put the president elect on the can for a day or two.

Did you hear that???

Kinda sounded like thunder only "wetter", seemes to be coming from the two coasts.

Ain't it amazing the money they want for those drums? Not saying I wouldn't want a couple but wow I could buy alot of ammo for the same $.
