My old buddy Lien had a new rifle and invited me to go shoot it with him and do a write-up on it. It is a Sig Sauer carbine, Model Sig 556XI Multi-Cal.
This rifle comes in either .556 or 7.62 X 39. This one is the 7.62 X 39 model.
Here it is:
The charging handle can be easily moved to either side of the action. The bolt can be locked back with a bolt hold-open button. (Since this rifle uses an AK type mag, the mag will not lock the bolt open when empty.)
The rifle comes with a removable cheek pad that can be used to get a better cheek weld on the stock.
That long magazine requires a lot of height above the bench, but then again, this isn't really a bench rest rifle.
The rifle comes with one Tapco magazine, but Liem has tried several kinds of AK mags and they all seem to work just fine.
Just in front of the front sight you can see a gas adjustment post that allows the operator to adjust the amount of gas directed towards the recoil.
If you get a chance to shoot one, don't miss the chance.
It's fun to shoot stuff.
